Lithium Deep Cycle Battery 12V 100Ah / LifePO4

Grade A+ LiFePO4 Battery: The 12V 100Ah LiFePO4 lithium battery is made with top-quality Grade A+ Lithium Iron Phosphate (LiFePO4) cells, providing higher energy density, stable performance, and strong power. It is very safe, supported by a UL Testing Certificate for its internal components. These batteries are ideal for solar homes, RVs, campers, trolling motors, and off-grid setups.

Low-Temp Protection: This 12V 100Ah lithium battery has built-in low-temperature protection, making it suitable for use in RVs, cabins, off-grid systems, or marine applications.

5-10 Years Lifetime: The 12.8V 100Ah LiFePO4 battery lasts 4000–15000 cycles, which is 10 times more than lead-acid batteries. It can handle 4000 cycles at 100% depth of discharge (DOD), 6000 cycles at 80% DOD, and 15000 cycles at 60% DOD. The battery can last up to 10 years compared to the 2-3 year lifespan of lead-acid batteries with only 200-500 cycles.

Consider it and Investment: The initially higher price of a LiFePO4 battery is quickly offset. It is an obvious choice in this regard.

Lightweight-Easy to Move: Weighing just 11kg per module, the 12V 100Ah LiFePO4 battery is one-third the weight of lead-acid batteries. It is 50% lighter than lead-acid batteries with the same capacity, making it easy to transport.

95% Efficiency: This 12V 100Ah LiFePO4 battery maintains a steady discharge above 12.8 volts for up to 95% of its capacity. This delivers significantly longer runtime compared to the 50% efficiency of lead-acid batteries. It is the best choice for outdoor camping and easy indoor installation. With no memory effect, the battery can be charged and used anytime, regardless of its current charge level.

Can Lifepo4 batteries replace Lead Acid Batteries?

Yes, LiFePO₄ (LFP) batteries can replace lead-acid batteries, but using a lead-acid charge controller without adjustments is not recommended.

Key Differences in Charging Profiles

Lead-acid chargers typically use a multi-stage charging process (bulk, absorption, float) with voltage ranges suited for lead-acid chemistry. LiFePO₄ batteries, however, require a different charging profile:

  • Absorption Voltage: 14.2V to 14.6V

  • Float Voltage: Not necessary; if used, set to 13.5V to 13.8V

  • Equalization: Should be disabled

Using a lead-acid charger without adjustments can lead to:

  • Undercharging: If the absorption voltage is too low

  • Overcharging: If the charger doesn't terminate charging appropriately

  • Reduced Lifespan: Due to improper charging cycles

⚠️ Manufacturer Recommendations

Many LiFePO₄ battery manufacturers state that their batteries are "drop-in replacements" for lead-acid batteries. This is only true if the existing charging system is compatible or adjustable to meet LiFePO₄ charging requirements. Our LiFePO₄ batteries come with a built-in Battery Management System (BMS) that provides protection, but this doesn't replace the need for proper charging voltages. LiFePO4 batteries charged using lead-acid algorithms will have a shorter lifespan and can lose 20–30% of their capacity within 2–3 years.

✅ Best Practices

  • Use a Charger with a LiFePO₄ Profile: Ensure your charge controller or charger has a setting specifically for LiFePO₄ batteries.

  • Adjust Settings Manually: If your charger allows, manually set the charging parameters to match LiFePO₄ requirements.

  • Consult the Battery Manufacturer: Always refer to the battery manufacturer's guidelines for charging specifications.

Why are Turtle LFP batteries less expensive then thoese of most other suppliers?

We import LFP batteries for our gate automation systems and require a specific order volume to secure the best price. Likewise, the cargo volume needs to meet certain size requirements to achieve favorable shipping conditions. As a result, we import more batteries than we need for automation and sell the surplus at an attractive price to ensure quick turnover. All batteries are of the highest quality and feature A-grade cells. Each model has undergone capacity testing and reliably holds the specified power. To date, no battery or BMS has experienced any failures.

What is the warranty for this LFP battery?

Turtle Direct LiFePO₄ Battery Warranty Terms (NZ)

Warranty Coverage:

Turtle Direct warrants its LiFePO₄ batteries against manufacturing defects and workmanship for a period of 3 years from the date of purchase.

We guarantee that the battery will retain at least 80% of its rated capacity within the warranty period, provided it is used and maintained correctly.

Warranty Conditions:

  • To qualify for warranty coverage: The battery must be installed, charged, and maintained according to the guidelines provided by Turtle Direct, including the use of a compatible charge controller designed specifically for LiFePO₄ batteries.
  • The battery must not be subjected to extreme temperatures, excessive moisture, physical damage, misuse, abuse, or neglect.
  • Damage caused by improper charging methods, including the use of chargers intended solely for lead-acid batteries, is not covered under this warranty.
  • Exclusions: This warranty explicitly excludes: Normal wear and tear Damage resulting from unauthorized modifications or repairs Accidental damage or damage caused by natural disasters Warranty Claims To initiate a warranty claim, contact Turtle Direct with proof of purchase and a detailed description of the issue.
  • Turtle Direct may require battery testing and inspection to validate the claim. The battery has to be returned to Turtle Direct at the cost of the buyer.
  • Limitation of Remedies Turtle Direct reserves the right to remedy any valid claim by either providing a replacement battery or issuing a pro-rata-temporis refund based on the remaining warranty period, at our sole discretion.
  • Consumer Rights This warranty is provided in addition to, and does not exclude or limit, your rights under the New Zealand Consumer Guarantees Act 1993.
What doese the BMS (Battery Management System) do?

A BMS (Battery Management System) is like the brain of a LiFePO₄ (LFP) battery. It protects the battery and makes sure it runs safely and efficiently.

Here’s what it does:

  • Overcharge Protection: It stops charging if the voltage gets too high, which could damage the battery or cause a fire.
  • Over-discharge Protection: It disconnects the load if voltage gets too low to prevent permanent damage.
  • Cell Balancing: It evens out the voltage between cells so all cells age evenly and the battery performs better over time.
  • Temperature Monitoring: It shuts down charging or discharging if temperatures are too hot or too cold.
  • Short Circuit and Overcurrent Protection: It disconnects the battery instantly if there's a short or a power surge.

In short, the BMS keeps the LFP battery healthy, safe, and working as long as possible. Without it, even a high-quality battery can fail early or become dangerous.
